AVENEL PERFORMING ARTS CENTER

The Avenel Performing Arts Center (APAC) - the region’s newest performing arts center designed for theatre, stage productions and special performances – is welcoming theatre-goers with the very best entertainment venue in Central Jersey. The APAC is a multi-disciplinary performing arts center located in Avenel (Woodbridge Township). Managed by the Woodbridge Arts Alliance (WAA), the APAC promises to energize Avenel and surrounding communities by programming exceptional, professional theatre, music, comedy, dance and more. The APAC features seating for 200 patrons, a separate performance room and pre-function lobby area that opens to exterior space for larger gatherings and events. APAC also features Curtains Restaurant – a stand-alone dining destination available for catered pre-performance and special events.

Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Festival on Saturday

The Hispanic Heritage Festival is set for Saturday (Oct. 5) from Noon to 4:00 PM at Parker Press Park in downtown Woodbridge. Meet friends and neighbors in a fun-filled and educational festival that celebrates the contributions of the Woodbridge Township Hispanic & Latino community!!! Music… Dancers… Food… Fun… and so much more!!! (FREE Parking in the NJT lot.)

Barron Arts Center Presents: The Barron Family of Woodbridge: An Exhibit

The Barron Art Center Presents: The Barron Family of Woodbridge. The exhibit, drawn from the family archives of the descendants of the Barron Family of Woodbridge, features a chronology of the Barron family journey from Ireland to Massachusetts to New Jersey and beyond. Of special note will be artifacts from the life of Barron Library benefactor Thomas Barron, the Civil War diary of Dr. John Connor Barron, and a variety of correspondence, artifacts and photographs from Maria Louisa Barron-Fredricks, wife of the noted 19th century New York photographer Charles DeForest Fredricks. BarronFest Art & Craft Festival Returns Oct. 12

The BarronFest Arts & Crafts Festival returns to Parker Press Park on Sat., Oct. 12, 2019. BarronFest - sponsored by the Woodbridge Township Cultural Arts Commission and the Barron Arts Center - features over 50 local artisans & crafters. Stroll the BarronFest booths and craft areas from Noon to 4:30 PM. Food and other refreshments are available for purchase as a fundraiser for the Woodbridge Township Cultural Arts Commission.

Woodbridge Ghost Walk ‘Haunts’ Main Street

The Woodbridge Halloween Ghost Walk returns to Parker Press Park and Main Street on Sat., Oct. 12 & 19 with an all-new fun and fascinating 40-minute guided tour into the spirit-filled past of Woodbridge Township. Ghost Walk explores a side of Woodbridge not typically found in textbooks – the Township’s rich history of ghosts, curious incidents and unexplained occurrences from Colonial days to the present. Costumed guides and actors tell the stories of New Jersey’s first European settlers, Revolutionary War heroes, members of Victorian society and much, much more!!! Meet the spirits of both famous and infamous local residents of the town’s past. Ghost tours haunt Main Street starting at 6:30 PM (Sat., Oct. 12 & 19). Public Works Announces FREE Leaf Bag Distribution

The Fall ‘Bagged Leaf’ collection program is about to get underway!!! Check out the Public Works schedule to find out where to pick-up FREE leaf bags. To collect leaves more efficiently the Township requires that residents bag leaves in biodegradable paper leaf bags only – plastic bags cannot be used The biodegradable paper leaf bags are designated for ‘Leaves Only’ and are to be used only while the leaf collection program is in effect. The Township distributes paper leaf bags to residents FREE of charge and are available at the Public Works Recycling Center located on Smith Street in Keasbey. It’s All Happening at The Club

The Club at Woodbridge is now part of the Woodbridge Township Recreation Family – and we’re offering an incredible menu of health, wellness, fitness and entertainment programs, events and happenings to members and guests!!! The Club is the perfect complement to the Woodbridge Community Center (WCC) right across Main Street. Both facilities have a pool, running track, cardio rooms, weight rooms, concession areas and child care functions. Both run summer camps for kids and personal training and other amenities. The Club has racquetball and badminton, while the WCC has a hockey rink, roller rink, mini-golf course and batting cages. Explore all The Club has to offer at: www.theclub.org.

Let’s Go Fishing!!! Grab your fishing gear and some bait and join the Recreation Department for some fishing fun!!! The annual Frank Gagnon Memorial Fishing Derby “casts-off” on Sat., Oct. 5 (9:00 – 11:00 AM) at Heards Brook in Woodbridge Park (Gorham Ave. and North Park Drive in downtown Woodbridge.) There are many events, programs and happenings every day that focus on our schools, students and extra-curricular activities. The WB E-News encourages residents, parents, students and visitors to support the various school-related activities - without community sponsorship, many of the student programs, events and activities would not be able to take place. Plan to attend.
