Mayors Summer Concert Series...Performing this Week
|
|
|
|
|
The Mayor’s Summer Concert Series returns to the Country Sunday stage at Parker Press Park on Sunday (July 29) with Swearingen & Kelli and Maybe April. Larry Chance & The Earls revive their Golden Oldies favorites on Monday (July 30) and The Weeklings (Beatles Tribute) rock the Tribute Tuesday stage on Tuesday (July 31)... both concerts LIVE on-stage at 7:30 PM on the grass field behind Woodbridge High School. Woodbridge Wednesday hosts The Mullican Brothers & Ryanhood (August 1) at 7:30 PM on the Parker Press stage and Local Band Thursday returns with City Hicks on Thursday (August 2) at Tanzman Park (across from the Downtown Woodbridge Train Station) at 7:30 PM. Bring a lawn chair and enjoy the FREE concerts with family and friends! The cost of admission to a Mayor’s Summer Concert is a can, or two, or three of non-perishable food for the We Feed Woodbridge Food Bank. Five Branches Welcomes Senior Residents
|

Mayor John E. McCormac, the Woodbridge Township Municipal Council and the Woodbridge Township Department of Health & Human Services, celebrated the Grand Opening of the all-new Five Branches Senior Center in the Iselin section of Woodbridge with an official ribbon-cutting Ceremony on July 20. With more than 200 Woodbridge Township Senior residents in attendance, the Five Branches Senior Center - named in honor of the Five Branches of the United States Armed Services: US Army, US Navy, USMC, US Air Force and the US Coast Guard – is located in the newly renovated T. Nulty American Legion Post #471.
The Five Branches Senior Center, along with the Evergreen Senior Center in Colonia and the Sycamore Senior Center in Port Reading, offer Senior residents a convenient neighborhood multi-purpose center designed to engage every visitor in social, recreational, educational, health and wellness programs and activities that enhance their Quality-of-Life and serve to cultivate new friendships. The Five Branches Senior Center includes a large community room, activity rooms, game room, computer learning center with FREE wifi, and a café’ area with kitchen. Senior residents are encouraged to register as a member of the Five Branches Senior Center. The Five Branches Senior Center, located at 1 Brown Avenue, Iselin, is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. Call 732-726-6276 for all the information.

Little Shop Of Horrors has devoured the hearts of theatre goers for over 30 years. The meek floral assistant Seymour Krelborn stumbles across a new breed of plant he names Audrey II - after his coworker crush. This foul-mouthed, R&B-singing carnivore promises unending fame and fortune to the down and out Krelborn as long as he keeps feeding it... BLOOD. Over time, though, Seymour discovers Audrey II's out of this world origins and intent towards global domination! It’s a performance not to be missed!!!!

Civil War Living History Comes Alive on Sat., Aug. 4Experience the Civil War with the Robert E. Lee Civil War Roundtable of Central New Jersey as history comes to life on Sat., Aug. 4 when the Civil War Library & Research Center (94 Green Street) is transformed into a “living” Civil War encampment. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore the Civil War Calvary Camp and meet the soldiers of the 7th Regiment Virginia Calvary, Company A. Watch kids ‘drill’ with the soldiers. Experience civilian life as it was in 1864. Explore Civil War history displays and learn from living historians portraying notable Civil War personalities. Civil War books and other period goods on sale at the Civil War Library. Admission is free to this wonderful learning experience and unforgettable trip back in time. Camp Open: 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM.
