April Is Youth Month. Bigger & Better Than Ever!!!

April is “Youth Month”...jam-packed with youth-oriented activities beginning with the Woodbridge Police Department (WPD) accepting applications for this summer’s ever-popular Junior Police Academy and going right through the hotly-contested Gladiator Games between the Evergreen Center’s Youth and Senior members on April 30

Visit the Barron Arts Center and explore the extraordinary “Student Works” art exhibit (April 2 – 16). Celebrate National Library Week (April 8-14) and explore the many interactive events and programs at the Woodbridge Public Library and the Henry Inman, Fords & Iselin Branch libraries. Explore Elementary School Day at the Evergreen Youth Center (Wed., April 25). Sign-up for “Playful Painting” - an 8-week children’s painting class with easy-to-follow instruction at the Woodbridge Artisan Guild Gallery (WAG). Explore special “Youth Month” events all month long at the Woodbridge Community Center (WCC). In all, more than 60 events geared to Woodbridge Township young people will take place at the Woodbridge Community Center (WCC), Barron Arts Center, Parker Press Park and Township schools, libraries, parks and playgrounds.

Here’s just a sampling of the many events that are on tap for “Youth Month 2018.”

April 13: Career Fair for High School Senior & Junior students. WCC. 8:30 AM - 12:30 PM

April 15: Princess Breakfast Ball at the WCC. 9:30 AM

April 21: Colonia 5K Classic/Chris Jantas Fun Run. St. John Vianney (Start/Finish). 8:30 - 11:00 AM

April 29: Mayor’s Youth Volunteer Awards at WCC. 11:00 AM

SPECIAL YOUTH MONTH HIGHLIGHT – SAT., APRIL 21

Plan to be at the WCC for the annual Earth/Arbor & Multi-Cultural Day Festival featuring exhibits, food, dance, music and cultural performances presented by residents and neighbors representing more than a dozen different cultures and ethnicities that live and work in Woodbridge. And, this year’s Earth/Arbor Day celebration includes “green” displays by environmental companies and local businesses and FREE give-away’s of tree seedlings, flower seeds and other “green” items (while supplies last).

The Earth/Arbor Day festival also includes information on the importance of recycling, energy-saving seminars and information and a special Earth Day program for children. At 11:30 AM, the Woodbridge Environmental Commission celebrates Arbor Day with the planting of blossoming Redspire Pear trees along Community Center Drive – an annual event that signifies the important role trees play in keeping the Township environment clean and smog-free. Saturday is Public Health Day

The Department of Health & Human Services hosts the annual Mayor’s Public Health Day on Saturday (April 7) at the Health Center. Free Health & Wellness Screenings. Healthy Cooking Demonstrations presented by Wegmans of Woodbridge. FREE Wellness Give-Away’s. Moon Walk Bounce House. Face Painting and Much, Much More!!! 9:00 AM to Noon at the Health Center, 2 George Frederick Plaza.

Music on Main Presents: Carl Palmer: ELP Legacy
LIVE on Stage: Sat., April 21

The popular Music on Main Street concert series returns with Carl Palmer: ELP Legacy... LIVE on-stage on Sat., April 21 at 7:30 PM at The Theatre @ Woodbridge Middle School. Music on Main Street - presented by Mayor John E. McCormac, the Woodbridge Township Department of Recreation and the Woodbridge Committee for the Arts - features top-name entertainment performing an incredible line-up of folk, rock, blues, soul, jazz, and more!!! “Tooling Around the Township” is Sat., April 28, 2018. The annual Township-wide “fix-up” day targets home repair projects for eligible Senior and handicapped residents. We’re taking applications for home “fix-it” projects and signing-up “fix-it” volunteers. Want to nominate a house for repair... volunteer... donate services... or sponsor a home repair project??? The Woodbridge Little League Opening Day parade steps-off at 11:30 AM from Mawbey Street School #1 to the Woodbridge Little League Baseball Park at Van Buren Street for the Opening Day First Pitch.
