Mayor John E. McCormac announced a Township-wide initiative to eliminate potential mosquito breeding areas with the demolition of an abandoned swimming pool at 206 Green Street.  The Department of Health & Human Services and the Department of Public Works, in concert with the Woodbridge Township Abandoned Property initiative, identifies abandoned swimming pools and undertakes the removal of the pools as part of a public health and safety campaign to eliminate potential areas for mosquito breeding.

Join the “BioBlitz” at Oros Wildlife Preserve on Saturday 

Plan to join teams of biologists, scientists, wildlife experts, students and outdoor recreationists at the first-ever Greenable Woodbridge Bio Blitz at the Ernie L. Oros Wildlife Preserve (Omar Avenue, Avenel) on Sat., June 3.  

BioBlitz is a 24-hour race to find and identify as many species of plants, birds, mammals, frogs, lizards, turtles, snakes and insects as possible in the Oros Wildlife Preserve.  Participate in this special project to discover the diversity of life right here in our own backyard.  BioBlitz is a FREE EVENT.  Sat., June 3, 2017.  Registration: 8:00 AM.  BioBlitz: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM


Woodbridge Community Players Presents: An Evening with Russell Fischer Saturday, June 3

“Cast-A-Can” Food Drive Set for Primary Election Day – Tues., June 6

Help us provide for the community this Summer by participating in the “Cast-A-Can-When-You-Cast-Your-Vote” food drive on Primary Election Day - Tues., June 6, 2017.  WHS students are collecting canned goods and nonperishable food items at all Township polling locations as part of the annual Election Day food drive geared to re-stock Woodbridge food pantries. Voters can drop off donations at their polling location when they go to vote.  The donations will be collected by the students after the polls close and delivered to the Township Health Center where they will be sorted and distributed to local food pantries.

The year-round effort to keep Woodbridge Township food banks stocked continues with food donations being part of every Township-sponsored event such as the Mayor’s Summer Concert Series, the Barron Arts Center summer programs and concerts, and other Township-sponsored public events.  Non-perishable foods can be dropped off any weekday at the Woodbridge Township Public Health Center, 2 George Frederick Plaza, between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.  Additional food drop-off locations are at Woodbridge Town Hall, 1 Main Street, the Woodbridge Library, 1 George Frederick Plaza, or at the Woodbridge Community Center, 600 Main Street. 


Walk the Middlesex County Greenway on Wed., June 7

Join the Woodbridge Wellness Campaign – and Mayor “Mac” – for a Walk on the Middlesex County Greenway.   The Middlesex County Greenway is a great place to spend a Summer afternoon hiking or riding a bike.  The “rails-to-trails” Greenway follows the abandoned Lehigh Valley railroad along a 3.5-mile trail from Crows Mill Road in Woodbridge to Middlesex Avenue in Metuchen. Connected to several parks in the area, the Greenway weaves through Woodbridge, Metuchen, and Edison as a green ribbon that ties the communities together. The Woodbridge section of the Greenway provides residents with a walking/hiking and bike trail, as well as a living classroom for educational and environmental initiatives.  Walkers Meet at 5:30 PM at the Dudash Park/May Street Entrance.

It’s Almost Summer!!!!  Which means it’s time to plan your “Staycation ~ Vacation” in Woodbridge.  We’re kicking-off the Summer festivities with the first-ever WB SummerFest – a FREE preview of this Summer’s upcoming Concerts, Events, Festivals and Happenings!!  The region’s hottest band – THE BENJAMINS – take the stage at 7:30 PM.
