April Is Youth Month.  Bigger & Better Than Ever!!!

Youth Month Calendar

April is “Youth Month” – that time of year when we celebrate our youth!!!  Youth-oriented activities got underway   with the Woodbridge Police Department accepting applications for this summer’s ever-popular Junior Police Academy and we’ll wrap-up Youth Month with the hotly-contested Gladiator Games between the Evergreen Center’s Youth and Senior members on April 28.  Plan to attend the Mayor’s Youth Volunteer Awards at the WCC on April 23 – 50 Woodbridge Township young adults will be honored by Mayor McCormac and the Municipal Council for their service to the town.  It’s never too late to sign-up for “Playful Painting” - an 8-week children’s painting class with easy-to-follow instruction at the Woodbridge Artisan Guild Gallery (WAG).  And there are still plenty of special “Youth Month” events at the WCC.  In all, more than 60 events geared to Woodbridge Township young people take place at the Woodbridge Community Center (WCC), Barron Arts Center, Parker Press Park and Township schools, libraries, parks and playgrounds.

Multicultural Day

SPECIAL YOUTH MONTH EVENT – SAT., APRIL 22:  Plan to be at the WCC for the annual Multi-Cultural Day Festival featuring exhibits, food, dance, music, and cultural performances presented by residents and neighbors representing more than a dozen different cultures and ethnicities that live and work in Woodbridge.  As part of Multi-Cultural Day, Woodbridge will welcome new citizens from around the globe as they take the “Oath-of-Allegiance” to the United States at a special ceremony administered by the United States Citizenship & Immigration Services.  Citizenship ceremony is set for 10:00 AM in the WCC Auditorium.

Earth Day

And, this year’s “Earth/Arbor Day” celebration includes “green” displays by environmental companies and local businesses and FREE give-away’s of tree seedlings, flower seeds and other “green” items (while supplies last).  The “Earth/Arbor Day” festival also includes information on the importance of recycling, energy-saving seminars and information, and a special “Earth Day” program for children.  At 11:30 AM, the Woodbridge Environmental Commission celebrates “Arbor Day” with the planting of blossoming Redspire Pear trees along Community Center Drive – an annual event that signifies the important role trees play in keeping the Township environment clean and smog-free.
