April is “Youth Month” – that time of year when we celebrate our youth!!!  Youth-oriented activities get underway with the Woodbridge Police Department accepting applications for this summer’s ever-popular Junior Police Academy and going right through the hotly-contested Gladiator Games between the Evergreen Center’s Youth and Senior members on April 28.  Visit The Barron Arts Center and explore the extraordinary “Student Works” art exhibit (Closing Reception on April 11).  Celebrate National Library Week (April 9 - 15) and uncover the many interactive events and programs at the Woodbridge Public Library and the Henry Inman, Fords & Iselin Branch Libraries.

SPECIAL YOUTH MONTH EVENT – SAT., APRIL 22:  Plan to be at the WCC for the annual Multi-Cultural Day Festival featuring exhibits, food, dance, music, and cultural performances presented by residents and neighbors representing more than a dozen different cultures and ethnicities that live and work in Woodbridge.  As part of Multi-Cultural Day, Woodbridge will welcome new citizens from around the globe as they take the “Oath-of-Allegiance” to the United States at a special ceremony administered by the United States Citizenship & Immigration Services.  Citizenship ceremony is set for 10:00 AM in the WCC Auditorium.  

The Woodbridge Township Department of Health & Human Services and the Municipal Alliance will host the annual Mayor’s Public Health Day on Saturday at the Health Center.  Free Health & Wellness Screenings.  Healthy Cooking Demonstrations courtesy of Wegman’s of Woodbridge.  FREE Wellness Give-Away’s.  Bounce House, Rock Climbing, Face Painting and Much, Much More!!!  9:00 AM to Noon at the Health Center, 2 George Frederick Plaza.  

And, don’t forget the 12^th Annual Easter Bonnet Parade & Easter Egg Hunt (hosted by the Colonia Business Community and the Colonia Corner newspaper) on Sat., April 15 from 1:00 – 3:00 P.M. at Colonia Middle School.  ($5.00 Donation per Child.  Adults Free.)  Prizes awarded for the Best, Funniest, and Most Creative Easter Bonnet or Hat. Games...  Prizes... Baskets... Music... Vendors... Face Painting... Sparkee the Somerset Patriot Mascot & Freddy the Talking Fire Truck.  And, don’t forget to bring a can... or two... or three... of non-perishable food to help “We Feed Woodbridge” bolster Township food pantries.

And, plan to join the Merrill Park Baseball League on Sunday as they parade from Indiana Avenue School #18 to the Merrill Park Baseball League Cooper Field Park (3 Cooper Ave. off Green St.) in Iselin for the Opening Day First Pitch and start of play. Parade steps-off at 9:00 AM.
