WOODBRIDGE POSTS WINTER STORM ADVISORY
Wed., March 4 (11:00 P.M.) – Thurs., March 5 (8:00 P.M.)

National Weather Service Forecast Calls for 4-8” Snow Accumulation

Residents & Businesses Reminded to Remove Vehicles from Designated Snow Emergency Streets to Allow for Plowing & Emergency Operations

Mayor John E. McCormac and the Woodbridge Township Office of Emergency Management announced that the National Weather Service has issued a winter storm advisory beginning on Wed., March 4, 2015 at 11:00 P.M. through Thurs., March 5, 2015 at 8:00 P.M.

The National Weather Service is calling for a 4-8 inch accumulation of new snow, with heaviest accumulation predicted for the morning hours on Thursday (March 5).  High winds and cold temperatures with wind chill factors around zero are predicted through the entire period.  Woodbridge Township residents – particularly senior residents - are encouraged to remain indoors and to wear appropriate clothing if venturing outside.

The Woodbridge Office of Emergency Management reminds residents and business owners that vehicles must be removed from streets designated as Snow Emergency Routes in order to keep the streets open for plowing and snow removal operations over the next 24-36 hours.  (Complete list of Woodbridge Township snow emergency streets is posted on the Township web page at:
www.twp.woodbridge.nj.us).  Parking prohibitions will remain in effect until streets and roadways have been plowed and on-street parking will not interfere with snow removal operations and/or the normal flow of traffic. To assist plowing and snow removal efforts throughout the Township, residents are encouraged to park vehicles in driveways and off streets wherever possible. Residents are reminded to not push snow into plowed streets.  Please assist emergency crews by uncovering fire hydrants that may be located on or near residential property.

Township businesses and property owners are reminded to keep sidewalks, driveways and public thorofares free of snow and ice.  Township ordinance requires property owners to maintain clear pedestrian walkways and sidewalks by removing accumulated snow and ice from sidewalk areas within 24 hours after the end of the storm.

Woodbridge Township Trash & Recycling Collection:
Thursday (March 5) recycling pickup for District 4, Zone 1-14 – Colonia, Iselin and Avenel – will take place beginning at midnight tonight (Wed., March 4).  Please bring your cans in as soon as possible after pickup to allow for better plowing.  Recycling pick-up for District 5 will take place as scheduled on Friday (March 6).

The Office of Emergency Management and the Department of Public Works closely monitors weather conditions and is at the ready to begin plowing, salting and appropriate public safety operations.  Township Public Works crews have been pre-scheduled to conduct around-the-clock plowing and salting operations for the upcoming 24-36 hours as needed and will concentrate plowing and salting operations on primary roadways, main streets and highways, hill areas, and heavily traveled thorofares throughout the Township.  Plowing and salting operations along secondary roadways and residential streets will be conducted depending on storm conditions and as crews become available.  Woodbridge Township plow operations do not include state and county highways.

Woodbridge Town Hall will maintain normal hours of operation on Thursday (March 5).  Woodbridge Township residents should tune to local TV news and weather reports, TV-35, or log-on to the Township Web Page at:
www.twp.woodbridge.nj.us for weather information or specific storm-related announcements.
