Woodbridge Hosts 15th Annual Veterans Day Commemoration

Mayor Cites Need to Remember Sacrifices in the Name of Freedom

Interim Mayor Joseph F. Vitale has announced the Veterans of Woodbridge Township will present their 15 th Annual Veterans Day Commemoration on Sunday, Nov. 12, at 7 p.m. in the sanctuary of the historic First Presbyterian Church, 600 Rahway Avenue, Woodbridge. The processional lineup begins at 6:30 p.m.

The program honors all American veterans, living and deceased, who served in war or peacetime and those men and women currently serving in the military.Mayor Vitalewill serve as Keynote Speaker.

“We must never forget the sacrifices made by the brave men and women who fought so gallantly for the freedoms we enjoy today,” says Mayor Vitale. “I encourage everyone to come out for what promises to be a stirring tribute.”

Representatives of local veterans organizations will present patriotic selections of poetry and narrations. Local church choirs have been invited to participate in a Combined Choir directed by Fred Briegs.

Past District 8 VFW Commander George E. Goodrich will serve as the Master of Ceremonies. Other participants include the Department of New Jersey VFW State Color Guard under the direction of Captain Art Poquette with Past VFW State Commander Charles Duffett serving as narrator for “A Salute to the Services”.

Reverend Robert Boyar, First Presbyterian Church-Woodbridge, and Father William Bleiler, State Chaplain of the New Jersey VFW, will serve as Chaplains. The United States Naval Sea Cadet Corps, NWS Earle Division, will present the Colors and Historical Flags and serve as wreath bearers.
