Woodbridge Township Mayor John E. McCormac will officially accept baby supplies
and child care products collected by Woodbridge High School students as part of the annual “Teddy Bear’s
Closet” project on Thurs., Feb. 8 at 1:00 P.M.
Mayor McCormac noted that the annual “Teddy Bear’s Closet” drive which collects donations of baby care products mobilizes students from the Woodbridge High School International Culture Club under the direction of Class Advisor Tina Provenzano. The student-led project collects donations of baby food, formula, disposable diapers, and other baby care items for distribution to needy families with infants and toddlers. The Woodbridge food pantry network coordinates the distribution.
“Baby products are among the most expensive items in a family’s budget,” said Mayor McCormac. “Teddy Bear’s Closet helps Township families obtain much-needed baby care products and items while, at the same time, provides an opportunity for high school students and their teacher-mentors to organize a program that benefits dozens of families and infants throughout the Township.”

The “Teddy’s Bear Closet” project is coordinated by the Mayor’s Advisory Committee. “Teddy Bear’s Closet seeks essential baby-care items not usually donated to food pantries,” said Mayor’s Advisory Committee Chairman Terry Sharkey. “We have been very fortunate to enlist the aid of dedicated Woodbridge High School students in spreading the word and picking up donations.”

Community organizations that would like to hold collections of baby goods for future “Teddy Bear’s Closet” drives should contact Terry Sharkey at 732-388-5335 for details about the program.

News media and photographers are encouraged to attend the Woodbridge High School ceremony. Donated items will be on display before being loaded into Township trucks for distribution.
