WHAT: Mayor Pelzman Receives “Teddy Bear’s Closet” Donations. . . Honors Efforts of Volunteers, Youth at Special Ceremony

WHEN: Friday, Jan. 13, 1:00 p.m.

WHERE: Woodbridge High School, Samuel Lupo Plaza, Woodbridge

WHY: “Teddy Bear’s Closet” Drive Provides Low-Income Families with Essential Clothing and Babycare Products

The annual Teddy Bear’s Closet drive recognizes that families with babies do not subsist on bread alone – they need plenty of diapers and formula.

Teddy Bear’s Closet collects donations of baby food, formula, disposable diapers and other crucial items for low-income families with infants and toddlers. The items are distributed through the Woodbridge food pantry network.

“Baby products are among the most expensive things in a family’s budget,” says Mayor Frank G. Pelzman. “Teddy Bear’s Closet helps families obtain much-needed items they may have a hard time buying themselves.”

The drive is coordinated by the Mayor’s Advisory Committee and is the culmination of the Make A Difference Day campaign begun the previous October.

“Teddy Bear’s Closet seeks essential baby-care items usually not donated to food pantries,” says Mayor’s Advisory Committee Chairman Terry Sharkey. “We have been very fortunate to enlist the aid of some dedicated Woodbridge High School students in spreading the word and picking up donations.”

Any group that would like to hold collections of baby goods for future Teddy Bear’s Closet drives can contact Terry Sharkey at 732-388-5335 to arrange for a pick-up.
