Mayor Frank G. Pelzman will commemorate March as “Read Across America” Month at Woodbridge Child Care Center, 621 E. Woodbridge Ave., Avenel on Thursday, March 9, at 9:00 a.m.
Mayor Pelzman will read to students (ages 3-6) from the book Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Seuss.
“Children are our most treasured resource,” says Mayor Pelzman. “Providing for their health, safety, education and future opportunities is one of our highest priorities and responsibilities.”
Read Across America is sponsored throughout March by the National Education Association, the country’s largest education advocacy association with 2.7 million members.
This year Read Across America joins forces with Books Across America — a nationwide program launched last month to provide books for public schools and students in need.
ooks Across America will deliver a much needed supply of new books and money to more than 40 public schools in 26 Gulf Coast Cities damaged by Hurricane Katrina
