Mayor McCormac at Work Providing Better Public Works Services for Township Residents… Free Drop-Off of Bulk Waste at Township “ Convenience Center”… Permit-Free Garage Sales… Free One-Time Curbside Bulk Waste Pick-Up… New Equipment to Resurface Streets…

Continuing the 2007 “Spring Clean-Up” program for Woodbridge Township residents, Mayor John E. McCormac today announced yet another “free” Public Works service -- the opening of a no-charge bulk waste drop-off “ Convenience Center” at the Public Works yard and recycling center. The Woodbridge Township 2007 Spring Clean-Up program is part of continuing efforts to improve municipal services without expanding costs – Mayor McCormac’s “Quality of Life” program for Township residents.

The 2007 Spring Clean-Up Program includes the first-ever, permit-free Saturday and Sunday garage sale(s) in each of the Township’s five wards followed by free curb-side bulk waste pick-up on the Wednesday after the garage sale. Additionally, Mayor McCormac previously announced the purchase of new and upgraded construction and paving equipment which will allow the Department of Public Works to r epave and repair municipal parking lots, library and school district facilities, and smaller neighborhood streets at a reduction in cost.

“The tradition of Spring cleaning is taking on a new look in Woodbridge this April and May with the introduction of expanded Public Works services that encourage residents to clean-up their homes and properties and then dispose of the bulk waste for free,” Mayor McCormac said. “Whether it’s dropping-off bulk waste at the new convenience center or taking advantage of the opportunity to have a permit-free garage sale followed by a one-time curb-side bulk waste pick-up, residents now have more and easier ways to dispose of unwanted bulk waste and recyclable electronics – and it’s for FREE.”

Dennis Henry, Director, Woodbridge Township Department of Public Works, said the “ Convenience Center” is open Monday - Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (closed on Sunday). The “ Convenience Center” is located at the Public Works yard and recycling facility located at 225 Smith Street (under the Parkway Bridges). Residents will be permitted to drop-off bulk waste items, appliances, concrete, dirt, asphalt, residential construction debris (no commercial debris), mixed metals, leaves and brush and recyclable electronics (PC’s and lap tops, monitors, printers, keyboards, mouse attachments, scanners, TV’s, etc.) Anyone dropping-off bulk waste items at the “ Convenience Center” will be required to present a drivers license or proof of Township residency. NOTE: Residents requesting a special curbside bulk waste pick-up will be required to pay the $30.00 bulk waste removal fee. For more information on the “ Convenience Center” and bulk waste pick-up, contact the Woodbridge Township Department of Public Works at 732-738-1311 x3049 or log-on to the Woodbridge Township Web page at www.twp.woodbridge.nj.us (click on Recycling).

Following the garage sales, unsold items and bulk waste will be picked-up “free-of-charge” by the Township Public Works Department on Wed., May 2. Garage sale(s) and bulk waste pick-up in Wards 2, 3, 4 and 5 will follow on subsequent weekends (except during the Memorial Day week).
