Woodbridge Receives $800,000 in Property Tax Relief

Mayor Lauds State’s Effort to Help Municipalities Balance Tax Rate

Mayor Frank G. Pelzman has announced that Woodbridge Township will receive $800,000 from the Extraordinary Aid Program of the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs (DCA).

“The grant will be used to offset increases in our property tax rate,” said Mayor Pelzman. “We are very grateful to DCA Commissioner Susan Bass Levin for her efforts in dispensing these funds in a timely and judicious manner.”

To receive Extraordinary Aid from the DCA, a municipality must demonstrate that, despite its efforts to provide property tax savings, circumstances beyond its control warrant the additional assistance.

“At DCA, we are dedicated to protecting the citizens of New Jersey by creating jobs, increasing economic development and strengthening our municipalities,” said Commissioner Levin. “Working together with our local governments, we can provide the much-needed property tax relief and the support services our hardworking citizens deserve.”

DCA’s Extraordinary Aid Program is implemented through the Division of Local Government Services, which works with local governments throughout the state to ensure their fiscal integrity and to support their efforts to comply with state laws and regulations.
