Concert, Toy Donations for Local Children

The German-based toymaker Playmobil, Inc. will open its new FunStore at Woodbridge Center with a gala “Children’s Imagination Day” celebration.

The activities include a parade and concert by acclaimed singer-guitarist and TV celebrity mr. Ray. In addition, Playmobil will donate toys to children of families unable to afford them, via the auspices of the Iselin chapter of Stand for Children, a national non-profit children’s advocacy group .

“We are always glad when a business takes a strong interest in helping the community,” says Mayor Frank G. Pelzman. “We are especially pleased that Playmobil’s generosity will embrace our local children during the holiday season.”

The event opens at 3:30 p.m. in Woodbridge Mall Village Court, lower level Sears wing, with a “Pirates and Princesses Parade”. Children ages 4-10 are invited to dress up as a pirate or princess and join acclaimed singer-guitarist and TV celebrity mr. Ray.

The official Ribbon-Cutting takes place at 4:30 p.m., followed by a children’s party at 5 p.m. featuring face painting, games and a free toy to each child.

Playmobil employs more than 2,300 people worldwide and distributes its toys in over 60 countries. The U.S. headquarters is in Cranbury, New Jersey. Playmobil toys are renowned for their flexible and interchangeable accessories and have created generations of loyal customers.

The FunStore concept blends traditional toy play with modern multi-media technology. The Woodbridge FunStore offers two play areas for children, web site kiosks for parents and a giant plasma screen showing video game versions of various Playmobil sets.

“ With our new FunStore, we’re inviting children and families to come and immerse themselves in a giant play world,” says Playmobil Vice President John Skrajewski. “We’re excited to provide this opportunity to families in the tri-state area.”
