WHEN: Tuesday, Nov 9, 11:30 a.m.
WHERE: Elementary School #19 – Maryknoll Road, Menlo Park Terrace, Woodbridge
WHY: Community Business Sponsorship of Youth Athletics, Education
Devine’s Pharmacy of Edison is the sponsor of three new signs for youth athletic facilities in Woodbridge, Mayor Frank G. Pelzman has announced.
The pharmacy, celebrating its 27 th year as an independently owned family business, is donating funds to create and install signs for Fords Bearcats Girls Softball, Fords Bearcats Football and Cheerleading at Fords Park and Menlo Park Terrace Elementary School 19. Earlier this year, Devine’s Pharmacy sponsored a new sign for Iselin Athletic Association at Cooper Field.
“We applaud local business owners supporting our youth activities, whether in athletics or education,” says Mayor Pelzman. “The signs advertise the presence of the teams and school and help foster community pride.”
The signs were hand-carved from solid mahogany by local artisan Peter Catelli and feature 23-carat gold leaf lettering. Mr. Catelli’s unique sign work has been posted in 49 states and 5 countries, including 51 towns in New Jersey.
At the Nov. 9 dedication at School 19, all three signs will be formally presented and available for photographing.
Robert Riedinger, owner of Devine’s Pharmacy and a third-generation pharmacist, says he is proud to sponsor the new signs. “We believe strongly in supporting not only the youth but the many volunteers who work so hard year-round to benefit young people’s education and recreational activities,” he said.
The Fords Bearcats Girls Softball All-Star Team won first place this past summer in the 8-and-Under Division of the 2004 Staten Island Bring It On Tournament.
