Nov. 6, 2006

Mayor cites ongoing commitment to continue Downtown enhancements

Interim Mayor Joseph F. Vitale has announced that Woodbridge Township has received a $50,000 grant from New Jersey Department of Community Affairs to develop a collaborative visioning plan for the Main Street business and residential area.

The grant from the DCA’s Smart Future Program supplements several municipal- and county-funded enhancement efforts already in progress .

“We are very pleased with this support from the state,” said Mayor Vitale. “Our long-term goal is to make certain this business district remains a vital part of the Township’s economy and also a desirable place for residents to live.”

The study will analyze existing infrastructure and land use to determine redevelopment possibilities that advance business opportunities and support livable neighborhoods.

“I am delighted that the Department is able to provide assistance for this most worthwhile project,” noted DCA Commissioner Susan Bass Levin.
