Lowe's Customer Appreciation Day Benefits Township Police, Emergency Services

June 2, 2004

The new Lowe's on Main Street in Woodbridge isn't shy about making friends in the community.

At a recent Customer Appreciation Day coordinated by Lowe's commercial sales specialist Scott Miller, the store donated several thousand dollars' worth of equipment to Woodbridge Township's police, fire, first aid, hazmat and emergency management departments

"Lowe's believes community involvement extends beyond the boundaries of the traditional retail setting," said Jeff Pemberton, manager for Lowe's store #1658. "Whether it's helping with natural disaster recovery or taking an active role in programs that make our neighborhoods better places to live, we are committed to helping build strong communities."

Woodbridge Mayor Frank G. Pelzman noted the home improvement company's history of reaching out to its host communities. "We are very pleased Lowe's approached our emergency service agencies with their generous equipment donations. These gifts will help save lives."

Lowe's has ongoing partnerships with the American Red Cross, United Way, Habitat for Humanity and the Home Safety Council. In addition, the Lowe's Charitable and Educational Foundation gives more than $2 million dollars each year to support educational and community projects across the country.

"Businesses are the economic backbone of any strong community, providing jobs and adding to the community's commercial vitality," said Mayor Pelzman. "Woodbridge is happy to welcome Lowe's and their spirit of corporate volunteerism."
