Mayor cites importance of community involvement
Jim Leathem of Colonia will be honored with a special Mayor’s Proclamation for his longtime volunteer contributions to the Woodbridge Township Library system, Mayor Frank G. Pelzman has announced.
Mr. Leathem will receive the award Feb. 26 at 2 p.m. before the Black History Month concert by Beth El Acapella Choir of First Tabernacle of Newark at the Main Library, George Frederick Plaza in Woodbridge.
“Jim Leathem has played a vital role in bringing innovative educational and cultural programming to the Library system,” says Mayor Pelzman. “His leadership and involvement are a stellar example of what civic spirit is about.”
Mr. Leathem has served on the executive board of the Friends of the Libraries of Woodbridge Township for over a decade. As Board President he coordinated several successful fundraising efforts, including the annual April book sale that provides funds for Library purchases and capital improvements.
“Jim Leathem has set a high standard for volunteerism,” says Library Director John Hurley. “His efforts have helped us reach many thousands of residents with improved and expanded services.”
The concert is free, but concertgoers are encouraged to donate a non-perishable canned food item. For information call (732) 634-4450.
