Home Depot will herald its grand opening in Woodbridge with a hefty round of donations to local non-profit groups.

As part of the company’s mission to impact its host communities, Home Depot will be making donations to the following non-profit organizations and their local affiliates: Woodbridge Township Educational Foundation, Kiddie Keep Well Camp, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Blue Knights New Jersey Chapter III and St. Jude’s Hospital.

Says Mayor Frank G. Pelzman, “We are always glad when an employer takes an avid interest in helping the community. These grass-roots groups positively impact thousands of people a year in our Township. Home Depot’s recognition of their service role is fitting and timely.”

Home Depot is the world’s largest home improvement retailer with $64.8 billion in sales and 325,000 associates employed at more than 1,800 stores across North America. The new Home Depot on St. George Avenue comprises 135,000 square feet and has brought nearly 250 jobs into the community.

Last year, Home Depot contributed monetary support to more than 5,500 non-profit organizations and participated in 5,300 home repairs in partnership with Rebuilding Together ™ , the national umbrella group that sponsors Woodbridge’s annual Christmas in April home rehabilitation effort.

Home Depot has several community initiatives including Urban Forest Restoration, Wildland/Rural Forest Restoration, Sustainable Forestry Management, Affordable Housing, Green Building Programs and Home Depot Foundation. For information call 1-866-593-7019 .
