$250,000 DEP grant will aid in Rahway Avenue Park upgrades
At its Nov. 22 meeting, Woodbridge Township Council passed an enabling resolution to accept a $250,000 grant from the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection’s Green Acres Program, Mayor Frank G. Pelzman has announced.
The money will be used to enhance Rahway Avenue Park, which is being converted into a state-of-the-art skateboard park. Additional funding was obtained from the Middlesex County Board of Chosen Freeholders.
“This is a project initiated by resident requests and the desire to expand the Township’s recreational facilities for young people,” says Mayor Pelzman. “We are very grateful to the DEP for helping us upgrade the recreation experience for our young people as well as help preserve community parkland.”
1 st Ward Councilman Charles Kenny spearheaded the funding and planning effort which resulted in the Township’s plan to construct a 14,000-square-foot.
