Mayor McCormac Targets Grant $$$ to Fund Innovative & Continuing Public Safety Programs and Initiatives
Mayor John E. McCormac today announced that the Township administration and the Woodbridge Housing Authority have received more than $1 million in funding from federal, state, and county grant programs during the first two months of 2007.
“I’m pleased to report that as a result of identifying and aggressively pursuing federal, state, county, and private funding opportunities, Woodbridge has secured over $1 million in grant monies in just the first two months of 2007,” Mayor McCormac said. “Having served as State Treasurer, I am aware of the potential to secure added funds to bolster municipal programs. With a full-time staff person seeking grant opportunities, I believe we will be better positioned to secure funding for innovative programs that will benefit Township residents.”
In announcing the grants, Mayor McCormac noted that in January and February, the Township administration and the Woodbridge Housing Authority received $1,059,000 in grants for programs ranging from helping residents achieve housing self-sufficiency, to hiring additional police officers, to providing added health services for senior residents, to planting tress as part of a reforestation program. The specific grants include:
- $90,378 -- Clean Communities Grant provided through the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection. The grant is dedicated to the implementation of programs to maintain Township communities. (Feb. 27);

The grants will allow the WHA to create programs that will help Township residents living in WHA facilities achieve economic and/or housing self-sufficiency. (Feb. 22);
