Aug. 7 “Freedom Salute” Welcomes Soldiers after 15-month Deployment

On Aug. 7from 10 a.m.-noon, Woodbridge Township will gather for a Freedom Salute to local National Guardsmen returning from duty in Guantanamo, Cuba, Mayor Frank G. Pelzman has announced.

Members of Charlie Company, 2nd Battalion of the 113th Mechanized Infantry Regiment, Army National Guard, will be on hand to receive a warm Woodbridge welcome from families, friends and neighbors.

Freedom Salute takes place at the National Guard Armory at 625 Main Street, Woodbridge. It is free and open to the public.

“Serving overseas is a tremendous emotional burden on our soldiers and their families,” says Mayor Pelzman, who is scheduled to speak at the event. “Freedom Salute will recognize everyone who has provided support for the troops through a very trying time.”
