Oct. 28, 2006
The Woodbridge Health & Human Services Department will conduct a flu and pneumonia vaccine clinic for adult residents of Woodbridge Township, Interim Mayor Joseph F. Vitale has announced.
The clinic takes place Nov. 14 from 4:30-7:00 p.m. at the Woodbridge Township Health Center, 2 George Frederick Plaza, Woodbridge. Clinic cost is $15 per shot, free for Medicare patients. For information call (732) 855-0600 x5011. Individuals with a handicapping condition may call (732) 855-0600 x5011 to make an appointment.
Individuals who should receive a flu shot are adults over age 50; health care providers and caretakers for high risk patients; residents of nursing homes and other institutions housing long-term care patients; women who will be in the second or third trimester of pregnancy during flu season; individuals with chronic heart and lung problems, diabetes and conditions that lower body’s resistance.
Individuals who should receive a pneumonia shot are healthy adults over age 65 years of age and adults of any age with chronic heart and lung disease or serious chronic disease that may affect the lungs. It is necessary to receive only one pneumonia vaccination every 10 years.
“We hope residents will take advantage of this opportunity,” says Mayor Vitale. “The fewer cases of flu and pneumonia we have this winter is a benefit to the entire community’s health.”
