Interim Mayor Joseph F. Vitale will sign an Ethics Executive Order at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26 in the Municipal Council Chambers at Town Hall, 1 Main Street, Woodbridge, New Jersey.

Marianne Horta will be appointed Township Ethics Officer. Ms. Horta currently serves as the Township’s Personnel Director.

Also appearing at the signing will be Paula Franzese, Chair of the State Ethics Commission and the Peter W. Rodino Professor of Law at Seton Hall University School of Law. Ms. Franzese is a nationally acclaimed expert on ethics and political practice.

The Woodbridge Township Ethics Executive Order is a groundbreaking piece of municipal legislation and part of a broad reform agenda sponsored by Mayor Vitale to increase government accountability and encourage citizen participation in local government. The Citizens Campaign of Metuchen has assisted in research and development of the reforms.

“ Our purpose is to ensure that citizens have a clean, efficient government at all levels,” says Mayor Vitale.

As part of the order, Woodbridge Township will implement an ethics program requiring mandatory training on the Local Government Ethics Law for department heads, council members and appointed officials serving on all boards and commissions. “We want to make sure that people know the rules and are aware of what the correct procedures are when serving their municipality,” says Mayor Vitale.
