Woodbridge Opens “Cooling Center Info Line” |
Aug. 7, 2006
Woodbridge Township has opened an automated phone message line with cooling center information, Interim Mayor Joseph F. Vitale has announced.
The Cooling Center Information Line number is (732) 726-2350 and provides up-to-date information on the Township’s seven cooling centers where residents can get air-conditioned relief from the heat and humidity. The number is operational 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
“Hot weather is going to be around for awhile yet,” says Mayor Vitale . “We urge senior citizens and those with respiratory problems to take precautions during any heat wave .”
Mayor Vitale suggests that residents look out for frail and elderly neighbors and family members during periods of intense heat. “If you know someone who may be at risk for heat stress, take a few minutes to check on that person now and again. You may be saving a life.”
