The heart, muscles and backbone of Woodbridge Township will be on public display this Sunday at Woodbridge Center Mall.
No, you won’t encounter a science exhibit on the human body but, rather, the 11 th annual Woodbridge Community Day featuring a gala tribute to the spirit of volunteerism that forms the civic core of American social life.
The event takes place Sunday, October 23, from 1:30-4:00 p.m. in the mall’s Village Court, Lower Level Sears Wing. Representatives will be on hand from numerous community service groups including fire, police, first aid squads and other public safety organizations.
The day also features giveaways, demonstrations and entertainment by music and dance groups, topped off by the Mayor’s Volunteer Awards at 1:30 p.m. given by Mayor Frank G. Pelzman and members of the Township Council recognizing the year-round efforts of dozens of dedicated volunteers in fields as diverse as youth sports and senior care to literacy, food banks and the environment.
“This is a public forum for expressing gratitude and paying tribute to the countless volunteers whose dedication, selflessness and civic pride make Woodbridge Township a great place to live,” says Mayor Pelzman. “It is also an excellent way to meet your neighbors and learn how you can get involved with community groups in your area.”
