July 5, 2006
Acting Mayor Patricia Osborne has announced that Woodbridge Township has received a $16,854 grant from Ronald McDonald House Charities of the New York Tri-State Area.
The grant will buy uniforms and equipment for Woodbridge Township Buddy Ball Sports , a self-supporting sports program designed for physically- and mentally-challenged youth .
Buddy Ball operates throughout the year, offering competitive programs in baseball, basketball, swimming, bowling and soccer.
“Buddy Ball is a program that benefits not only the young people who play the sport but the adults who become volunteers and supporters,” says Ms. Osborne. “We are very grateful to Ronald McDonald House Charities for their generosity.”
Since 1992 Ronald McDonald House Charities of the New York Tri-State Area has provided more than $5 million to local groups promoting youth and family wellbeing, according to its President, Gerald McCoy. “It’s wonderful to partner with not-for-profit organizations working to better the community,” says Mr. McCoy.
