Woodbridge Receives County Grant for Bowtie Pool Renovations

March 12, 2004

Mayor Frank G. Pelzman announced that the Township of Woodbridge has been awarded a $150,000 grant from the Middlesex County Open Space Trust Fund to renovate the popular Bowtie Pool facility. When the pool opens in June for the summer season, visitors will enjoy new benches, umbrellas, tables, improved fencing and a new waterslide. "My thanks to the Freeholders and the YMCA for making this happen," said the Mayor. "This greatly enhances the recreation experience for the families of Woodbridge who have come to enjoy our Bowtie facility each summer. Maintaining our open space and recreational facilities is of prime importance to us, and the Open Space Trust Fund enables us to do that." Bowtie Pool is managed by the Woodbridge Branch of the YMCA and receives approximately 10,000 visits per season. The facility features a 25-yard pool, kiddy pool and waterslide. Other amenities include locker rooms, a picnic area and playground. "This grant, and the resulting improvements to Bowtie Pool, represent an excellent collaboration between the Township, Middlesex County and the YMCA," said Councilwoman Caroline Ehrlich. The Woodbridge Branch YMCA also manages and operates Highland Grove Pool in Fords. For information about Bowtie Pool call the YMCA at 732-340-9622; for Highland Grove Pool call 732-346-9622.
