Woodbridge Township Recreation Department is accepting applications through March 24 for its 2004 Summer Men and Women Softball Leagues. Teams are accepted on a first come, first serve basis. "Exercise and sports are a vital part of a healthy adult lifestyle," said Mayor Frank G. Pelzman. "We are pleased to have the Township assist in supporting recreational activity that benefits a wide cross-section of the community." Cost is $205.00 per residential team, $305.00 per industrial team, plus a $64.00 refundable forfeit fee. The season runs from April through August. With more than 100 teams, the Township of Woodbridge has one of the largest adult softball leagues in New Jersey. According to the Amateur Softball Association, the sport's national governing body headquartered in Oklahoma City, nearly four million Americans participate in organized softball leagues each year on more than 245,000 teams.
