Woodbridge Offers Finance Seminar for Senior Homeowners

Mayor Cites Need for Increased Awareness of Financial Options, Home Aid Sources

Most homeowners know they need to guard against physical disrepair. But maintaining the health of a house's changing financial state is equally as important.

“Keeping Your Home Financially Safe” is a free seminar for senior citizen homeowners sponsored by the Township's Division on Aging. It takes place Thursday, Sept. 30, from 9:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at Evergreen Senior Center, 400 Inman Avenue, Colonia.

“Senior homeowners are under a great deal of pressure to maintain their property as they and their homes age,” says Mayor Frank G. Pelzman . “We wanted to organize a seminar that gave current information about their options regarding home repair and financing.”

The seminar features speakers discussing a wide range of home finance topics including reverse mortgage, re-financing a mortgage, default counseling and New Jersey state property tax relief programs. Home repair assistance, such as Christmas in April and Woodbridge Township's own home rehabilitation program, will also be highlighted.

Registration by Sept. 28 is required. To register or to obtain more information, call 732-855-0600 ext. 5023.
