Woodbridge Receives 2 Environmental Grants

Mayor cites ongoing commitment to continue Sewaren waterfront upgrade

Interim Mayor Joseph F. Vitale has announced that Woodbridge Township has received two grants from New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection and Garden State Preservation Trust.

The grants from the state’s Green Acres Program supplement the efforts already underway to improve the Township’s recreational facilities along the historic Boynton Beach waterfront area in Sewaren.

The first grant combines a matching grant of $100,000 and loan of $100,000 to refurbish the marina. The second grant combines a matching grant of $250,000 and loan of $350,000 to undertake improvements along Ferry Street and the Riverwalk.

“We are very pleased with this support from the state,” says Mayor Vitale. “It is our goal to make this historic waterfront a recreational amenity residents throughout the area can enjoy year-round.”

“ Woodbridge Township’s contribution in operating and maintaining these parks will help preserve a valuable resource for future generations,” noted NJDEP Commissioner Lisa P. Jackson.
