► Annual Event Aids Local Children with Extensive Medical Bills

 

WOODBRIDGE – The 7 th annual John Perricone Memorial Dollars for Danielle Motorcycle Run and Picnic, to benefit the Elias Stevens Fund, is set for Sunday, May 15, Mayor Frank G. Pelzman has announced.

Proceeds will benefit Elias Stevens, an 11-year old boy from Port Reading battling bone cancer. The picnic will be held at Merrill Park, Grove Two, from 1:00 p.m. until dusk. A 60-mile motorcycle run into scenic Hunterdon County leaves from Merrill Park at 11:30 a.m. with registration from 9:00-11:00 a.m.

The event cost is a $20.00 donation per person for an all-you-can-eat picnic of burgers, hot dogs and assorted snacks with entertainment by Mr. Tunes Deejay/Entertainer and live music by the band Hot Sauce. Children under 10 are admitted free.

“ Woodbridge residents have responded so well to past fundraisers for children,” said Mayor Pelzman. “This community has a big heart, and I am inviting everyone to come out and offer their support and enjoy a great picnic at Merrill Park.”

John Perricone, who originated the picnic, died of cancer in 2000. He was the owner of J&J Auto in Colonia. His sister, Karen, promised she would carry on the tradition of the picnic. “This event meant a great deal to my brother,” said Karen. “It is a perfect way for people to help others while having fun.”
