WOODBRIDGE – Mayor Frank G. Pelzman believes that some of the best things around Woodbridge occur as a result of citizen input and interest. The reconstruction of the Conrail railroad crossing spanning Woodbridge Avenue in Sewaren is a current case in point.
Residents had expressed concern about the crossing’s advanced deterioration to their ward councilman, Charles Kenny. Kenny took the issue to Town Hall, enlisting the Mayor’s support in contacting 19 th District Assemblyman John Wisniewski, chair of the New Jersey Assembly Transportation Committee.
Discussions began with Conrail representatives that resulted in the company’s commitment to upgrade the crossing.
“Conrail is an important part of the Township’s infrastructure,” says Mayor Pelzman. “We are pleased that government and industry were able to work together to achieve a benefit for the community.”
