Colonia Library Hosts 40th Birthday Celebration Sept. 12 |
The Henry Inman Branch Library is located at 607 Inman Avenue, Colonia, and was the first library to be constructed following the formation of a Woodbridge Municipal Library system in 1964. The Branch was named for renowned 19th-century artist Henry Inman (1801-46), whose paintings survive as important historical portraits of early American society and whose family members would later reside in Colonia.
“The Henry Inman Branch Library has served the residents of Colonia and Woodbridge Township for four full decades,” says Mayor Vitale. “It has played a vital role in bringing innovative educational and cultural programming to the Township library system.”
Township Library Director John Hurley agrees, adding, “ The Henry Inman Branch Library continues to be an important part of the community in Colonia. It brings books and other informational resources to a convenient location for the local residents and businesses.”
The Sept. 12 celebration will include an open house from 2-4 p.m. and 6:30-8 p.m., complete with birthday cake. The Library will be open as usual for business from 1-9 p.m. For more information call (732) 382-5090.
“This is a great opportunity for people to visit and see the diversity of our holdings,” says Louise Cangelosi, head librarian of the Henry Inman Branch Library. “We have so much to offer everyone.”
