Woodbridge Appoints 5 New Auxiliary Police Officers

Mayor Cites Important Role of Citizen Volunteers in Serving Community

Five officers have been added to the Woodbridge Township Auxiliary Police, Mayor Frank G. Pelzman and Police Chief William Trenery have announced.

The officers graduated from the Middlesex County Auxiliary Police Academy in June. Their enrollment brings the Woodbridge Township Auxiliary Police roster to 27.

“I welcome these men and women to the finest police department in the state,” says Mayor Pelzman. “They will make our fully accredited department even stronger and become part of the proud tradition of the Woodbridge Police Department.”

The new officers are:

-- Ed Candelario, Woodbridge

-- Patrick Harris, Colonia

-- Brian Horvath, Woodbridge

-- William Petrovey, Sewaren

-- Charles Teator, Woodbridge

Growing out of World War II-era civil defense patrols, today’s Auxiliary Police are citizen volunteers who assist their local police department in numerous capacities from traffic control and event security to crime prevention and emergency management duties.

“Our Auxiliary Police are on call and ready for duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week,” says Mayor Pelzman. “Their importance to our community cannot be overestimated.”
