Mayor cites need to maintain critical component of public safety operation

Interim Mayor Joseph F. Vitale has announced that the Woodbridge Township Police Department has received a $132,000 grant to upgrade its dispatch center and 9-1-1 system.

The grant is from the New Jersey 9-1-1 Commission and the Office of Emergency Telecommunications Services within the Office of Information Technology .

“We are very pleased with this support from the state,” says Mayor Vitale. “Emergency communications are a critical component of every municipality’s public safety operations, and this funding will allow Woodbridge to maintain its current high level of first responder service.”

The Woodbridge Township Police Department receives more than 100,000 calls for service a year, says Chief William Trenery. “Police dispatch systems require increasingly advanced technology to meet the ever-growing demands placed upon them,” he says.
